Thank you for this luminous account of your pilgrimage, Alinah, so tender and lucid, shining with love for your mother and compassion for all those who died in or survived the terrible event of the tsunami. In the images of your mother rescuing the fish, and telling you her dream, she seems a sage teacher with lessons for all of us, someone immersed in infinite love for all living beings, able to laughingly accept the mysteries of life and death in all their unreachable horizons and fathomless depths. You've truly honoured her memory by letting her radiate like that from your writing. I know what it's like to miss a wonderful mother, and that grief can never be truly overcome - but I hope that the emotional shift that occurred for you in Thailand helps you move within yours more freely.

Thankyou Naomi it means a lot to read this insightful response, and you are right/know it, mother grief never leaves but it does deepen and change us …and being there in the sea and with family and the entanglement of both honouring ancestor and the place itself was very powerful, still finding the words ….this article was just a few moments from one pivotal day and now I need to start making sense of the materiel from the wider journey …and the shift, as you say, it has enabled …💦♥️ 🙏🏼

It takes courage Alinah to express out such deep feeling. Go gently as you navigate how to respond creativity to your pilgrimage, the words will show themselves when they are ready 🪷
